China inaugurates its daughter hospital in eight days to treat corona patients

Chinese media reported that a hospital built by the authorities within eight days to treat people with the new Coronavirus in Wuhan (the outbreak center) began receiving patients on Monday.

The hospital has a capacity of 1,000 beds and aims to make up for the shortage of places in other city hospitals as a result of the virus.

The hospital consists of prefabricated buildings, which makes this short construction time possible in the first place. However, it is surprising how many workers, equipment and materials can be brought to Wuhan?

More than three thousand workers worked, according to the Chinese Broadcasting Corporation, where they were initially forced to work 12 hours a day. before the work was divided into three shifts per day.

China already has experience with these rapid clinics: in 2003, a 1,000-bed hospital in Beijing was built in six days to receive SARS victims. At that time, every Chinese SARS patient was treated there, according to the Chinese Broadcasting Corporation.

Experts believe that fast hospitals will not last forever, as building them in record time is a reaction to the spread of the disease, because patients must be isolated and treated better.

The mayor of Wuhan Zhou Xianwang had said in previous press statements that he expected 1,000 new cases of the disease to emerge.

Zou Xianwang told reporters that the city will intensify its efforts to build specialized hospitals to deal with HIV-infected patients.

The Coruna virus has killed 361 people in China since it was discovered last December, and more than 17,000 have been infected in China and at least 171 in other countries. On Monday, Chinese television said there were more than 11,000 cases in Hubei, its capital, Wuhan.

Therapy
On a related matter, doctors in Thailand said they had successfully treated a Coronavirus patient with a combination of antivirals, according to a briefing from the Ministry of Health on Sunday, which was reported by CNN.

Dr. Kriangsak Atipurnanich - a doctor at Rajaveth Hospital in Bangkok - said he had treated a patient with the virus, who was in severe condition, who was transferred to the hospital on January 29 from Wuhan, China.

The doctor explained that he had treated the patient - a 71-year-old elderly woman - with a mixture of drugs used to treat HIV and influenza, and said that she had previously been treated with anti-HIV drugs, and the result was very satisfactory, as her condition improved very quickly within 48 hours.
